I am the general counsel of Savills Studley, Inc., a commercial real estate brokerage company based in New York with offices throughout the United States and Canada. Our parent company Savills plc is based in London and has offices throughout the world.
A large part of Savills Studley’s business is focused on representing occupiers (e.g. tenants) of office, retail and industrial properties, and for more than 30 years prior to joining Savills Studley my law practice (four years at Sullivan & Cromwell, eight years at Towne Dolgin Sawyier & Horton and 18 years at McDermott Will & Emery) consisted primarily of representing commercial tenants.
Commercial leasing is a complex and, to me, fascinating field, and I hope to use this blog to explore both current developments and issues that have been debated by landlords and tenant for decades.
